Bohemia Cobalt service
Triplex service
The dinnerware and tea service present calm conical forms with handles shaped from flat bands. Traditional Blue Onion decoration is applied to the simple forms of white porcelain tableware using a different method than that used in the past. The cobalt underglaze remained in its original time-tested form, but it has been moved elsewhere. The decoration no longer imitates the paintings that existed at the very early beginnings in Meissen, but rather areas printed or wallpapered with random, irregular cut-outs of widely-known motifs. The white surface of the dish plays just as important a role as the surface covered with decorations. The service was created in collaboration with architect Jiří Pelcl, the former rector and a professor at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. (lmp)
